How to Meal Prep Like a Pro with LUNCH:ON

Meal prep

Trying to save money? Eat healthier? Or want to reduce the time you spend in the kitchen? Then meal prepping is for you! What’s meal prepping you ask? Planning & cooking (or ordering) your meals in advance so you’re ready for whatever the week throws at you! Now that we’re spending more time at home, it’s a great opportunity to organize not just your cupboards but your eating too. Here are our top 5 tips to become a meal prepping pro with LUNCH:ON:

1. Tupperware is Essential

The first rule of meal prepping is to invest in good Tupperware. If you’re planning on cooking for the week ahead, you’re going to need something to store everything in, keep food fresh, easy to grab and eat when the time comes. Basically, you want BPA free, microwave & freezer-friendly, compartmentalized Tupperware. There are lots of different kinds available on Amazon or in your local store that you can browse to fit your specific meal prepping needs. If you’re ordering meals in advance with LUNCH:ON, they’ll come on the day you choose so no need to worry about storage!

2. Schedule in your Meal Prep Time

Whether you’re cooking or ordering in advance, schedule in some time on the weekend to prepare your food. If you’re ordering from LUNCH:ON, you can order all your meals for the week on the weekend, and it will only take you a few minutes! Or order your groceries through us on Wednesday and get them delivered the next day so you’re ready to prep your meals on the weekend. Then all you have to do is set aside some time on a lazy Saturday evening to prep your meals (pro tip: make it fun by listening to your favorite music or tuning in to the latest podcast).

3. Keep it simple

You don’t have to prep or order every meal for the week in advance, especially when you first start out. To begin with, prep or order the meal that gives you the most stress or takes the most time out of your week. Once you’ve got that down you can add another meal to your prepping.

4.Mix it Up

Meal prepping doesn’t have to be boring (especially if you’re using LUNCH:ON to help you out). Make sure you’re mixing up the types of food and cuisines you are eating and are trying new dishes. We have a range of grocery boxes that can help you mix up what you’re cooking. Fancy some flavors from the East? Try out our Asian box. Feel like pasta? Try the Italian Box. Or want to stick to some healthy salads & fruits and stock up with our fruit & veg box. No one wants to eat the same thing every day, and you don’t have to, when you’re meal prepping with LUNCH:ON!

Meal prepping doesn’t mean that you can’t have some meals that aren’t planned out in advance. Treat yourself every now and again by ordering something you haven’t tried before. Or bake something new, like these fruity flapjacks with ingredients from our Breakfast grocery box!
